Schools

While almost all exhibitions outside of the home require a license, non-profit schools, however, do not need a license to show videos for narrowly-defined "face-to-face" instruction, i.e., when a movie is shown in the classroom and is part of the curriculum. All other school showings require a separate license. Video use on your campus that is subject to copyright law includes, but is not limited to: rainy day recess, before or after school programs, parent-teacher organization events, family movie nights, extracurricular programs, clubs, and activities. Boarding schools face the additional challenge of insuring copyright compliance within common areas of dormitories as these spaces are considered public.
